One of the first hiphop albums that I straight-up stole from my pops' collection was Jazzmatazz, Volume 3, when I was a freshman at GHS. The nod of 'Certified' just had me on lock, I remember walking home on 30th listening to that on my Discman and rapping along with Jay Dee [he wasn't Dilla yet] on the staccato verse. 'Talkin' bout - boom - I be the nigga in flight you got to seeee...'

No lie, I used to tell this joke as a kid.

I'm pretty sure my dad told it to me. It's nestled in some funnier ones and some duds over at UW Dawg Pound's repository of Cougar cracks.

This year, the joke was pretty much true; Wazzu rarely had a chance to 'Coug it' - blow a chance or lead in the final minutes, for those of you not from the NW - and got methodically thumped in Husky Stadium. Good times.

I went to high school with Sascha and I think I was one of three people who didn't have a crush on her at some point. Which is not to say I don't get it - she's very sweet and bubbly and looks to have built up her acting chops. Check out the trailer for Blue Movies, a web series she's starring in:

The rules for TV shows: The premise must be good, the writing must be passable, and if it's shot and acted well, really, that's a bonus at this point. Have you seen anything on CBS recently? I hope not.

Premise? Brilliant. [If you told me this was going to be on FX, I'd believe you.]

Writing? All the lines in the trailer work.

And it looks pretty professional in the shooting and acting department. I'll be watching.

This awesome several-angles live clip from a show on the 29th I shouldna missed is from Blogs is Watching. Apparently, they're making it a serious venture, with Canh Solo and Hakala Productions. Cool with me, I'm trying to feel bad when I miss shows like this.

The 'Microsoft chillin'' part's at 4:20ish but watch it all. Most comfortable rapper on stage with a shot at the mainstream for sure.

Albert Pujols is either the best hitter in baseball or he's damn close. He has 266 career HR and he's played in a total of like 65 baseball games. He has a .418 career OBP. And a walk, mind you, ties the game. He is 12 feet tall, and each of his lats weighs 80 pounds. His bat is 60 inches long and is made of Bigfoot's spine. He is a monstrous monster who eats sliders. Not balls that were used to throw sliders, mind you -- he has figured out a way to eat the concept of sliders. The dude hits with a closed stance only because Marty Barrett bet him he couldn't hit with a closed stance like Barrett did and still win the MVP and Pujols did it just to stave off the boredom that had come from solving baseball. He once hit a home run on a hit-by-pitch. He has more hits left-handed than anyone in baseball history has right-handed -- and he is right handed. He completed an MD-PhD at Hopkins in one hour and gave a graduation address (in Greek), and he had to miss a game against the Pirates in 2003, and he still went 2-4 with a double. The home run he hit off Lidge in the NLCS....just now landed, in Banff. He is awesome.

It is a cruel thing to be back into baseball and not have an updating Fire Joe Morgan to turn to. That 2007 vivisection of a Rick Hummel piece might be my favorite piece of criticism ever. No one does hyperbole better than Tremendous did. I try sometimes and fail. Sniff.

At least ESPN is doing a good job with the Sportscenter spots again.
