The most important thing a man can know is that, as he approaches his own door, someone on the other side is listening for the sound of his footsteps.

quote: clark gable

The most important thing a man can know is that, as he approaches his own door, someone on the other side is listening for the sound of his footsteps.

- Clark Gable.

It's pretty cool waking up next to somebody. Patriarchal as the quote is with the presumably housebound lady [although Gable may have had more than one door to approach, knaamean?], I dig it. And as I'm the night owl and Buttercup's always hibernating, it's close to true for us.

I would post a picture of Gable, but this is so much cooler.

Yoinked from Will Sherman.

quote: guitar ted

Everyone should be forced to spend six months of their lives working on cars to understand just how stupid and evil they are. The brake fluid alone can kill you, easy.

- Guitar Ted, as quoted by Zach Dundas in The Renegade Sportsman

Reading this now, it's helladope. Makes me want to start with the alternafitness, beginning with Warrior Dash.

Guitar Ted is a guy whose nickname stems from loving Nugent in high school, and he organizes the excruciating and unsanctioned Trans Iowa, which would probably bork my car [love you, Owlet] permanently, but is designed to be a dangerous and exhausting 300 mile haul for bikes. In the book, someone does it on a fixie for the first time ever, which is just disgustingly flagellant. Looking forward to telling all my cycle folks about it.

I started this post on the Connector. I'm not giving up car luxury, but I love me some transit.

quote: jim cornette

After 2000 years of this shit, the Christians and the Muslims are still playing a game of 'my God can whip your God', only instead of rocks and spears, now we're using nuclear weapons. And all the rest of us who have sane, sanity, reason and logic going for us are gonna be fucked up too when this Dark Ages shit hits the 21st century fan.

- Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette is a crazy person, but the more I see stuff like the below video in the U.S., the more that quote haunts me.

quote: clubber lang

Shut up, old man! I ain't goin' nowhere. Why don't you tell all these nice folks why you been duckin' me? Politics, man. This country want to keep me down. Keep everybody weak. They don't want me to have the title because I'm not a puppet like that fool up there.

- Clubber Lang, Rocky III

Rocky III is on Netflix Instant Streaming. I approve. It would be better with no Act III, though. Clubber just wrecking Rocky and killing Mickey, end scene, would be fine with me. Bonus: Rocky getting shot on by actually-yoked and not-bald Hulk Hogan. I totally forgot about that.

And Mr. T just kills the role. Kills it. He's terrifying - Liston with Mayweather's grinning heel act. The only problem is Rocky looks like such a sucker you end up feeling pretty sympathetic towards Lang.

I think this is my favorite Clubber line in the movie because of the contempt with which Mr. T says 'politics, man'. I feel like that on Newsvine a lot. It's transcendent. Politics, man.

This is one of the many Clubber lines that got appropriated into Ghostface's 'The Champ', which might be the last great Just Blaze track.

quote: j money's bio

Josh is an aggro player to the core; his fast and loose playing style really allows for little else.  Plus he doesn’t like to think too much and enjoys eating lunch, luxuries very rarely found when playing a control deck. He also has a thing for angels.

- Matt Breckon on Josh Harris.

My friend J Money's the featured player on ManaSHIFT, which has a rad logo. Time to rejigger the blog roll yet again. Cool stuff.

Josh is also interning at Venuing, which just launched an iPhone app that lets fans interact at live events. It's free. I'm looking forward to testing it out.
