    desean jackson, mainstreamin' jerkin'

Educational minute. I just want to answer all the people who will assume this was C-walking or something stupid like that.

DeSean Jackson, suddenly the scariest WR in the NFL, busted this out during Sunday Night Football [I wanted to type 'SNF', but how many abbreviations can you throw in a sentence before it becomes signifying for in-crowded-ness' sake?]

This is jerkin', an L.A. invention that is accompanied by a bangin' blip-based soundtrack. Matthew Africa explains better than I can:

Jerk music is like a Bizarro-world version of rap, where women rap better than men and a lot of the traditional rules about sex and race get gleefully mauled-- dudes wear fluorescent nut-huggers, dance and brag about giving head and dressing like white boys.

Matthew's jerk mix is essential listening if you're curious. Also super NSFW.

Specifically, DeSean 'doin' that reject', according to Audio Push in the video after the jump. Here's their vid for 'Teach Me How to Jerk', the best of the jerk tracks that caught a little dance-craze buzz last summer. Welcome to the subculture, new jacks.

DeSean is one of my favorites because he's consistently repping Cali [admirable in Philly] and has a killer web presence - Snoop Dogg does the intro to his site and his twitter is awesome; apparently, he's willing to bust out the reject in the club, too.

I picked the Eagles to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the year and I don't feel so bad about it because of the DJACC factor.

michael beasley probably thinks weed should be decriminalized

Uhh, guy.Ganked from his TwitPic. Peep the bottom right. Things I have learned - being a golden boy doesn't make you exempt from getting horrible tattoos, Comcast or 7up.

Things I already knew: Ballers like ganja. Word to Charles Rogers.

[And yes, of course, that could be oregano or something. I'm making assumptions.]

But considering the general look of that room...I kinda doubt it.

    no throwaway lines

Man, this is some effort. Spotted on Soul-Sides.com's facebook, be friends.

I loved this video back in the day. What an ethering.

Apparently, literal video is what's hot in the e-streets right now. Dustin McLean's the pioneer, peep his take on 'Take On Me', which is really well-produced, after the jump.

The 'Just A Friend' video's done by SeanieMic, who's a comedy rapper. I tend to hate comedy rappers, and the flicks on his website do him no favors, but the video's genius. He should do Tribe's 'Electric Relaxation':

    I'm in a car, rapping.

    I'm at a diner, rapping.

your new favorite band: citing artistic differences

I should have posted this when my sister was still in school Evergreen was still in session [lest my parents get the wrong idea] because my sister's the one who put me on, but we both spent a bunch of time looking for this band, yet couldn't find anything.

Hold Fast ((Parliaments Make My Head Swim))

No Internet presence. Seriously. I mean, there's the occasional pseudonymous artist, but usually that Ish is found out immediately. But these dudes [well, there's a girl out of nowhere in the middle of it] are in hiding.

The lyrics are the type of stuff I usually don't like - Decemberists level 'look at how I took a Creative Writing course lyrics', but the stripped-down instrumentation is right up my alley, there's multiple metaphor narratives working, and upon repeated listens, it's got a lot of build to it. And I mentioned there was a girl, right?

    [Drum machine's weird, though.]

All my sis knows is that they're apparently led by some cat named Hermes and there's a bunch of members. I don't even know if they're Olympia-based. And yet they've got the slick cover image attached. I dunno.

    Does anyone?

Pulled the cover out of the file:

in any weather, we stay the flyest

'Mayor' got a video like ten seconds ago and I'm never up on anything this early. This song's been my ish for a while, maybe two months now.

    Basic concept, superb execution.

Pac Div + Nipsey + Jay Rock > any rookie class I can think of. It'd be great if they all dropped major labels in the same calendar.

    [Pac Div's gruesome myspace]

Them talking about how 'Mayor' is 'NWA meets Beastie Boys meets the future in PacDiv' after the jump.
