Whatever you think of The Coup's occasionally uneven discography, it's hard to deny that Boots can write and Pam can lay tracks. When they're both on point it's magical. I think I was still in middle school when I heard 'Fat Cats, Bigga Fish' at a friend's place [with the Baloo sample!] and lost my mind. This is my favorite, though:
Bianca's a NYC girl, as she'll gladly tell you. She's funny as hell but will step to you in a second, and she did a really good job of bridging the gap between real talk and academic speech in school. I have girl friends that I think of as older sisters and twins, but few younger sisters. Bianca's one of them. I'm really proud of her.

This year's highlights - Soundgarden [Nude Dragons?] are reissuing their first single on vinyl at select stores, Sonic Boom has stacks of 7", and Jigsaw Records is definitely already sold out of the 25 copies of a BOAT flexidisc they had but I'm gonna go anyway.

Met Josh and Tyler from Squarespace at an An Event Apart afterdeal last night. [Yeah, I know that sentence doesn't look right.] Was reminded that even when you have a gig a business card makes you look a lot more like a grownup. Lookit that thing, it makes you think they designed the logo with die-cutting in mind.
Between that and the boss's showoff material, I've definitely got to run off something more baller than scribbling on someone else's forgotten card. At least before I traipse into a room full of designers again.
